:  aplastic anemia that is inherited as an autosomal recessive trait and is characterized by progressive pancytopenia, hypoplastic bone marrow, skeletal anomalies (as short stature), microcephaly, hypogonadism, and a predisposition to leukemia

Biographical Note for FANCONI'S ANEMIA

Fanconi, Guido (1892–1979), Swiss pediatrician. Fanconi first described the congenital disease now known as Fanconi's anemia in 1927. He first reported on the renal dysfunction now known as Fanconi syndrome in 1931.
